Aggregate Percentage Calculator
Find your overall percentage from marks obtained out of total marks.
How to use this calculator
Add up the marks you scored across all your subjects or semesters and enter that figure, then enter the total maximum marks available across the same subjects. Press Calculate aggregate and the tool gives your overall percentage. For example, five subjects each out of 100 means a maximum of 500; enter your combined score against that. This is the figure most schools, colleges and job applications ask for when they request your "aggregate" or "overall percentage".
The formula explained
Aggregate percentage compares your total to the maximum possible:
aggregate % = (marks obtained ÷ total marks) × 100
You sum your marks across every subject to get the obtained total, then divide by the sum of the maximum marks for those same subjects. Multiplying by 100 turns the fraction into a percentage. When every subject is out of the same maximum, this gives the same answer as averaging the individual subject percentages — but using totals also works correctly when subjects carry different maximum marks.
A worked example
Suppose across five subjects you scored a combined 425 out of a possible 500. The aggregate is (425 ÷ 500) × 100 = 85%. If instead the subjects had different totals, you would still add all your marks and all the maximums the same way — the formula handles it automatically.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate aggregate percentage?
Add your marks across all subjects, divide by the total possible marks, and multiply by 100.
What is an aggregate in marks?
Your overall total across subjects or semesters, shown as a percentage of the maximum possible.
Is it the same as average percentage?
When every subject has equal total marks, yes — otherwise use totals, which always works.
